The dinosaur lake at Crystal Palace has dried out in the drought.
The dinos never complain though!
11 Aug
Today we went on a coach trip to Brighton. The crowds are listening to the band, playing in the shade of the trees on the other side. Someone put this out for the pigeons, a container of water with peanuts on the bottom. The pigeons tried hard but I don't think they got many out of the "deep" water.
We had our sandwiches sitting in front of Brighton Pavilion, under the shade of a tree. The grass is the same pale colour as the stonework! This big fountain nearby was very cooling and misty.
Despite the great heat, there were thousands on the beaches.
We could just see the wind turbines out to sea.
This is the Doughnut Groyne, although the sculpture probably has some other meaning.
Time to go on the famous Brighton Pier.
All the usual shops and amusements everywhere.
Our favourite was the Log Flume at the pier end, especially as the day was so hot.
The seagulls were dropping in to drink, in between the log boats coming past this high point and shooting down.
We had a wonderful day, and even Brown Teddy did not mind looking over the edge or through the gaps in the floor boards!
